dissent

I’ve heard and read in a few places that the lawsuits and protests and outcry against the current administration are because people on the Left “can’t accept that Hillary lost”. Every time I hear it, I’m quizzical. It’s as though the person making that claim is unaware that people are dealing with the reality of the current administration and pushing back against its unilaterally and hastily implemented Executive Orders, authoritarian dictates, fallacious proclamations, and imperious expectations. It’s bizarre to me that this administration and its supporters seem to have expected quiet acquiescence from the other side given that their candidate’s campaign was run on a promise to radically redirect the nation. What did they think was going to happen? Three million more voters actually prefer the course the nation followed for the last eight years. I am, to be honest, offended that my fellow Americans find dissent – so foundational to what makes this country exceptional – offensive.
